SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT MEMO

Everything You Wanted To Know

Week of June 6, 2011

As we close the door to another great school year at St. John Fisher School, we can look back on this year and remember many fond memories and accomplishments.  From the start of the year welcoming of our new Pastor, Monsignor Murphy, to the graduation festivities this upcoming Tuesday, I am continually honored and proud to be a part of the St. John Fisher community.

First of all, our superior staff has worked hard each and every day to provide our students with top-notch academics rooted in the Gospel.  Thank you for a great year!  I would especially like to wish our outgoing staff member, Sue Ramus, the best as she leaves the St. John Fisher staff for retirement but, remain in our hearts always.

Secondly, I would like to thank the Class of 2011 and their families for blessing us with their gifts and talents.  They have been a living example of hard work, perseverance, and following the teaching of Jesus Christ.  You have left a lasting impression on these hallways and when you return for visits and/or Sunday liturgy, we look forward to hearing what you have achieved…endless possibilities are awaiting you!

Thirdly, over 95 percent of families completed their volunteer requirements proving once again, it does take a village to make all the events happen here at St. John Fisher School.  I would especially like to thank our outgoing School Advisory Council and Parent Teacher Club Board members: Lori Sweeney, Development, Mandy Magaddino, Development, John and Molly Herrmann, PTC Club Presidents, and Kirsten Larsen, PTC Treasurer.  You have set a high standard for the predecessors following you and we appreciate you laying such tremendous groundwork to continue the forward momentum.

Finally in closing, thanks for another great year and I look forward to seeing you all for another round in 2011-12!

God Bless,

Merrit Holub, Principal

FINAL WRAP UP FROM YOUR PTC

Your PTC Exec Board Committee sends a hearty thanks and job-well-done message to all of our families and friends of SJF. We enjoyed a very successful year through our many fund-raising efforts (special high-five to the Auction! Can’t wait for next year!  MARK your calendars for our next auction scheduled for Nov. 5th!!)  And, a few new events: re-introduction of a speaker series and the on-going development of our parent-teacher-staff committee structure and organization.  The total commitment (tangible and non) of our community towards the success of our school and children is immeasurable and certainly blessed.

NOTES about PTC:

We wish to give our heartfelt thanks to our PTC Treasurer, Kirsten Larsen who has given two challenging but, rewarding years of her life to our PTC Executive Board Committee and also to your school, kids and community.  Thanks Kirsten and hello to Laura Shipley who we welcome warmly as the new PTC Treasurer.  Also, we’re still accepting those who would like to help more on the PTC including a Vice President Couple.  If you have any questions about duties, opportunities and how much fun PTC can be, please contact Mark and Cathie Anderson @ 503-768-4591 or John & Molly Herrmann @ 503-977-2289.

MORE TO COME: in the waning days don’t forget about:

·         John’s Incredible Pizza Fun Night (this Friday, June 10th 5:30-8:30 p.m.). This is a fundraiser for SJF.  For everyone that registers as a SJF community member (so that’s you, your family, neighbors, etc.) and spend money, SJF gets 15%.  That’s a good deal just for going and having some wild fun.

·         Jog-A-thon: Please get the last pledges in.  We need to close the books on this GREAT and FINAL fundraiser for 2011.

·         Speaking of Money: PLEASE get all of your recoverable receipts, expenses or other detail in since the cut-off date has actually passed and we want to allow our very nice Treasurer to close the books.

·         For those families that are submitting their monetary donation in lieu of hours, please submit to the school office no later than Wednesday, June 15th.
