Library The St. John Fisher library is open every day from 8:15 a.m. to 3:05 p.m. staffed by Library Media Specialist, Sue Ramus and Library Assistant, Lillian Chapman. The library houses over 8,300 items which include books, periodicals, newspapers, audio books, educational videos and CD.s. Additionally, there are more than 650 educational CD.s located in the computer lab. The beautiful library addition which opened in 1996 features six student computers with zip drives, a laser printer, two color printers and two stand-alone scanners which are available for research, skills practice, internet searching, word processing or sometimes just a quick game of solitaire for relaxation after lunch! Grades 5-8 have access to the library during lunch recess every day. Lunch recess time may used for quiet study, homework, make-up exams, research, reading, or game playing. Grades K-5 come to the library each week to enjoy literature appreciation, reading promotion and upper elementary grades also learn library and research skills and there is always a checkout time provided for pleasure reading. This year the middle school students will access the library during lunch recess, class time as arranged by individual teachers/subjects and those students who selected the tutorial as an elective. Every visit to the school should include a stop into this bright and cheery space. With a circulation rate of more than 1,100 books each month, it is clear that the SJF students love their library! |
