St. John Fisher Church will celebrate its 50th jubilee with a weekend of activities, September 19-20, 2009, including a Mass concelebrated by Msgr. Dennis O'Donovan, Vicar General and SFJ Pastor Fr. Wayne Forbes. The church's 50th jubilee festivities include a SJF picnic for past and present parishioners and their friends and neighbors on Saturday, September 19. The picnic will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. in the school cafeteria and playground. Bring your own picnic basket, or for a nominal fee, purchase a tasty BBQ lunch prepared by the SJF Men's Club. The Mass on Sunday, September 20, will commence at 11 a.m. and be followed by a community-wide reception in the school cafeteria. The St. John Fisher Jubilee will extend from the opening weekend throughout the 2009-10 school year, as parish and school groups taking part in various events will carry the SJF Jubilee Year label, including St. John Fisher School's annual auction (Golden Memories, Golden Dreams), which takes place on Saturday, Nov. 7th. The SJF Jubilee year's festivities will end with a Mass celebrated by Archbishop John G. Vlazny on Sunday, June 27, 2010, in honor of St. John Fisher's feast day.
