YES!!!! SJF'S FIRST YOUTH MASS!!!

We teachers, as well as last year’s students, are very interested in finding ways for our young people to have more chances to actively participate in our parish. One thing students suggested was a Youth Mass. We are excited to announce that our first Mass will be at 11:00 on Sunday, October 12. We would like students from grades 4 through high school to participate. All our students are comfortable with the roles, since they have been participating at school since 2nd grade. Students will be greeters, singers, ushers, take up collection, readers, bring the gifts at the offertory, petitions, etc. We need parents to back this venture by checking schedules and encouraging your children to participate. Sign up with a friend!! Please have your child talk with Mrs. Grbavac, Mr. Kolbet, or call him at the parish office. This is an important start for our school and parish!

New Beginnings

New Beginnings

All my middle school classes are off to a great start. We have only met twice for 8th Religion, but they will be turning in some thoughtful essays on Friday, 9/13. We will be working on another assignment beginning on Friday.

My math classes all have a weekly Math Maintenance worksheet, in addition to the regular homework assignments. These are given on Monday and due the following Monday. We are planning on “No Homework” on Fridays, since we have 5 math classes a week this year. So your child will need to be organized about when to get that done and where to keep it safe until it’s turned in. We are already wrapping up Chapter 1, so we will be reviewing and having the first tests next week.

I will have handouts with further details at Back-to-School Night! See you on Sept. 16th !

Middle School Families

Welcome all to a new year in Middle School. We are looking forward to seeing everyone on Tuesday. Get a good night’s sleep!

Our fellow teachers at Central Catholic have shared some great ideas for starting a new school year. In planning for the coming year it’s useful to set goals with your child. Goals about academic performance as well as goals for other activities and sports are important. To set goals, it’s helpful to look at past performance as well as future plans. Review with your child the previous year. Decide what went well and what didn’t. Allow your child to share what they would like to continue to do and what they feel they would like to manage differently. Talk about future goals and dreams your child has and recognize that they may be different than yours. Together you can come up with a plan to help your child meet these goals. Starting the year with a clear focus will help your child get off to a good start! Thank you for your partnership with us in your child’s education.
