Mr. Albertini Current Events

Arden Albertini:

I was born and raised in Montana and am part of a large extended family with several aunts, uncles, and cousins that were or are teachers.  So I was destined to go into the “family business”.  I received my Bachelor of Arts degree from Montana State University, “Go Bobcats!” and I did my fifth year at Portland State.  I love going to movies and visiting art museums and galleries.

I try to create an atmosphere in the classroom where every student will feel successful, safe, and enjoy coming to school.  Third Graders enjoy reading many good books, doing art projects, and learning new things about the world through their Travel Buddies.  They also look forward to visiting OMSI, the Portland Art Museum, and seeing an Oregon Children’s Theater play.  Our visits to the West Hills Retirement Center several times during the year is also a highlight.

Notes From Third Grade For Week of June 14th

For Wednesday June 16th please send in a grocery bag or something to take all school supplies home in.

Noon dismissal Thursday June 17th.

Report cards will be sent home Thursday, June 17th.

Thank you for your help with the Travel Buddy project this year.  The end-of-the-year projects were great.

Thank you for all your support and hard work at home this year.  We accomplished a lot and I hope it was a good year for everyone.  Be sure to do some regular summer reading during the break.  I hope everyone has a great summer. 


Notes From Third Grade For Week of June 7th.

Science test Friday June 11th Chapter 1, pages 1-31.

This week’s spelling words are not in the book.  A list was sent home on Monday, June 7th.

Third Grade is hosting this week’s Communion Service, Wednesday, June 9th.

The Travel Buddy Welcome Back Party is Thursday, June 10th at 1:15-2:00.  All are invited.

Very few days are left to get those Times Tables memorized. 

We are collecting books, pre K to about 3rd grade reading level, for this month’s service project.

Wednesday, June 9th the eighth grade will be holding a fundraiser for Haiti. Information was sent home Monday June 7th and in last week’s SAM.


Notes From Third Grade For Week of May 31.

Math test Friday June 4th, Chapter 16, pages 442-459

This week’s spelling words are not in the book.  A list was given out on Tuesday, June 1st.

Final project for Travel Buddy is due Monday, June7th.  Information was given out Monday May 17th.

Final push to memorize those Times Tables, 0-9 before the year ends.  Please practice at home.

Free dress on Friday, June 4th.

Brody is “Teacher For The Day” on Friday June 4th, and he has requested that there be a movie party on that day.  He is asking that any G rated movies you may have, that the class may enjoy watching, be sent in on Friday for us to choose from.

Be sure to be working on the end of the year Travel Buddy project, which is due Monday, June 7th.  Information was sent home last week.

Keep studying those Times Tables.  There is little time left.

No school Tuesday, May 25th and noon dismissal on Friday, May 28th.


Notes From Third Grade For Week of May 10th

This week’s spelling test words are not in the book. A list of Science and Social Studies words was sent home Monday May 10th.

Social Studies test Friday, May 14th, Chapter 6, pages 190-218.  They do not need to memorize any dates for the test.

We still have half the class the needs to memorize the Times Tables 0-9.  Please spend regular time at home practicing these.

Now that the Travel Buddies are home or heading home, the class needs to be sure to be filling out an “information sheet” for each place the travel bubby traveled to this year.  More information regarding the end of the year project and Welcome Back Party will be sent home soon.

Be sure to be collecting the money the sponsors owe for the Jogathon.

I hope everyone had a great Spring Break!

The weekly Spelling test is Thursday due to there being no school on Friday.

Weekly Mass is on Thursday 9:00, April 1, for Holy Thursday.

The 8th Grade will be putting on Living Stations Thursday, April 1 at 1:15.

Subway order forms were sent home Monday March 29th.

Social Studies Fair project due Wednesday morning March 17th

Social Studies Fair Wednesday, March 17th, 6:30-7:30.  6:30-7:00 will be spent in the classroom and 7:00-7:30 is time to check out other classroom projects.

We are collecting food items for the Sunshine Division for this month’s school wide service project.  We have collected only 31 items so far.  I know we can do better.  Collection ends Thursday, March 18th.

We are collecting donations for Haiti Relief for this month’s school wide service project.

Lent starts Wednesday February 17th.  I would like to encourage each student to make a “Lenten Promise”.  This could be giving up something, supporting a charity, praying more often, reading the Bible more often, working to change a bad habit, working on an area of their life that needs improving…  Maybe it is something the family could do together.  Please be sure it is something that they will have some success in.

Be sure to keep studying those Times Tables and keep that Travel Buddy traveling.

Third Grade collected 373 items for the St. Vincent DePaul Christmas food baskets.  We had some tough competition this year. We’ll see how we did at the assembly this Friday.

An Advent calendar was sent home for your use on Monday, November 30th

It’s time to send a Christmas goody box to each of the two soldiers we are writing to.  Any goodies you can send in by Friday, December 4th will be much appreciated.

The class will be celebrating our Class of the Month reward this Friday, December 3rd.  Please send in any G rated DVD for us to choose from to watch that day.

This month’s Class of the Month school wide service project is the St Vincent DePaul food drive.  Any nonperishable or toiletry items are needed.

The Scholastic Book Fair is set up in the lobby this week and books will be available for purchase after school each day.  We will also visit the book fair this Wednesday as a class.

Practice the English online by going to www.eduplace.com/kids/hme/  then click on “Grades k-5”, next “Grammar Blast”, and finally “Grade 3 Unit 1: The Sentence”.

This week we will be doing practice tests for the ITBS testing.  This will help the class become familiar with the format and directions of the tests.  When we are finished, they will be sent home for you to look at.

Book order sent home Monday, October 5th, due by Friday October 9th, checks only, made out to Scholastic.

Have you purchased your auction t-shirt?  An order form was sent home Friday, Oct. 2nd.  The class that sells the most wins a pizza lunch.  I love pizza.

Notes From Third Grade For Week of September 14th

Monday, September 15th, all school supplies, including Bible and Assignment Notebook should be purchased.

Welcome Back!  New books, new desks, new school supplies, it doesn’t get any better than that.  I’m so excited to start a new school year and I look forward to meeting my new class and their families.  Please look for several letters I will be sending home this week.  They contain important information to help us get off to a good year.

If you have any questions please feel free to contact me via note, e-mail, phone, or in person.

Uniforms begin on Wednesday, Sept. 9th.

All missing school supplies needed no later than Monday, Sept. 14th.  Don’t forget the Bible and assignment notebook.

All students should have a library book they can read during “Silent Reading” time.  I have a large library in my class they may borrow from, but some may want to bring one from home or the public library.  Please have a book by Wednesday, Sept. 9th.
